ZIMBA Joins the 2Cool2Waste Cluster

The ZIMBA project is pleased to announce its participation in the 2Cool2Waste Cluster, a growing community of EU-funded projects working to advance innovative heating, cooling and thermal-energy solutions for a more sustainable and energy-efficient future. The cluster brings together initiatives addressing challenges related to industrial waste heat recovery, heat upgrading, thermal energy management, industrial heat pumps, cooling technologies and decarbonisation.

Strengthening collaboration across Europe

The transition towards a climate-neutral industry requires not only technological innovation but also strong collaboration between projects tackling similar challenges from different perspectives. By joining the 2Cool2Waste Cluster, ZIMBA becomes part of a network of projects dedicated to improving the way heat is generated, recovered, upgraded and reused across a wide range of industrial and energy applications.

The cluster provides a platform for projects to exchange experiences, share lessons learned, and increase the visibility of innovative solutions developed under Horizon Europe and other European programmes. Members also collaborate through joint communication activities, webinars, events and outreach initiatives, helping to amplify the impact of their research and innovation efforts.

ZIMBA’s contribution

Within this collaborative ecosystem, ZIMBA contributes its expertise in Absorption Heat Transformer (AHT) and ejector-based heat upgrading technologies.

The project is developing an innovative solution capable of upgrading industrial waste heat into useful process heat for industrial application. By enabling industries to make better use of available thermal resources, ZIMBA aims to improve energy efficiency and support the decarbonisation of industrial processes.

Through participation in the cluster, ZIMBA will engage with projects developing complementary solutions, including high-temperature heat pumps, industrial cooling technologies, thermal energy storage systems, waste heat recovery solutions and integrated energy management approaches.

Looking ahead

As a member of the 2Cool2Waste Cluster, ZIMBA looks forward to contributing to joint communication and dissemination activities, participating in webinars and events, and exchanging knowledge with fellow projects addressing the future of industrial heating and cooling.

By working together, the cluster members can strengthen the visibility of European innovation and help accelerate the uptake of technologies that support a more energy-efficient, competitive and decarbonised industry.
